Just wondered if anyone could point out some excellent winter wiregates for scottish mixed stuff, particularly for use on extending runners, the reason I ask on here is just to get some hands on knowledge and experience rather than what the descriptions say on retailers websites?

In reply to samsimpson: I wouldn't want to be using my DMM Phantoms with a bulky pair of gloves on.

Agreed - Spectre 2s or Wild Wires are my choice.

As cheap and big wiregate as possible...
In reply to samsimpson: The normal suggestions for the best full-size wiregate krabs these days are DMM Spectre 2 or Wild Country Heliums. There are currently great deals on both although I'd edge towards the Heliums:

Spectre quickdraws can be had from Rock&Run in any length sling length for £10 each http://www.rockrun.com/products/DMM-Spectre-2-Quickdraw-25cm.html

Helium quickdraws can be had from Go Outdoors from £10.27-£10.57 e.g. http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/helium-10cm-quickdraw-p162489

You've then got options including:

WC Nitro (budget version of the Helium) 3 quickdraws for £27.00
http://www.rockrun.com/products/Wild-Country-Nitro-Quickdraw-3%252dPack.htm... (or £9.50 each http://www.rockrun.com/products/Wild-Country-Nitro-Quickdraw-10cm.html although if you were being really cunning you could get Go Outdoors to price match and get them for £8.45 each!)

or

WC Wildwires (a bit heavy but cheaper) for £4 each http://www.v12outdoor.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=234&products_i...
