Did anyone else just catch the bit on snow patches on the One Show, and find themselves cringing through it?
Led off with photos of people climbing up inside snow tunnels, then showed shots of heading off into the clag for a cosy night in the CIC hut and the nice running water facilities where you brush your teeth directly into the stream. There was some lip service about needing an experienced guide and "we wont go inside the tunnel cos it's too dangerous".
That seemed like a sure fire way of creating more mountain rescue callouts and have the hut be inundated with people turning up on spec expecting a bunk.
I'd never thought as snow patches as much of a tourism destination either. I know there are those that enjoy the esoteric challenge of skiing late in the season, or study them academically, but the climate change aspect was only briefly touched on.
