Hi everyone, we're driving up to balquidder  from sedbergh in a few days. As we have a 2 year old in the boot we'll stop half wayish and camp for the night.

Any recommendations please for a peaceful spot to pitch in the southern uplands preferably not too far off route.

We'll be stopping at around 7pm as well so not too far from the road would be good.

P.s. this is a request for tent pitch, not van

Thanks

Firstly, is it legal to stick your two year old in the boot?

Secondly, if camping with a two year old it certainly wont be a peaceful spot for anyone else.

If stopping then the Eskrigg Reserve is a nice place to errrrrr go for a walk just outside Lockerbie, or if you dont fancy that then further along towards Lochmaben there's Castle Loch etc.

Leave M74 at Elvanfoot, head along A702 towards Thornhill, after a few miles take minor road on left towards Daer Reservoir, where there are good options for wild camping — or were the last time I was there.

There's always someone like you isn't there.
