Don't know whether you have been following the story of the missing very senior walker in the Tan Hill Inn area but this is a far better outcome than I'd feared.  Raise a glass to a resourceful fellow!

Fair play to the old boy. One of the things I wasn’t sure of, was he carrying a tent with him? Either great result and I Hope I’m out walking places like that when I’m 80!

It was a great result. On reading the report a couple of things stood out.

He said, "I just got separated by getting caught in a really heavy hailstorm, a howling gale of wind.By the time I got my kit on it was getting really dark, so I missed what I would say was a turning."

A good reminder of just how easy it is to get separated and disorientated and for anyone with a group to keep an eye out for all the members. I wonder how long it was before the rest of the group realised he was missing

AND

"I had a plan B straight away, find somewhere safe to camp, put my tent up, keep warm, and that was it." A great illustration of being well prepared for almost any eventuality .
