I have no plans for New Year's Eve this year, and I quite fancy heading out into the hills and wild camping somewhere (forecast-depending, etc). I'm currently at my parents and don't have any maps lying around - give me some ideas to mull over before I go home tomorrow and find some maps to look at. Bonus points for there being enough snow/ice to need an axe and crampons, and double bonus points if in the vicinity of some consolidated snow and amenable grade I or II routes to solo.

Lakes would be easiest, but I'm open to other options too.

Lakes. Either Little Narrowcove from Mosedale, or Hard Tarn on Nethermost. Solitude.

Hard Tarn could be a good shout - I'd been thinking about wandering around Striding and Swirral Edges as I've so far managed to avoid them, summer or winter. That'd fit together quite well.

The scramble down to the Tarn is good in the snow too. There are a couple of gullies If stable enough to the south, or straight off the shoulder from Nethermost summit.
