Looking for a 8-9 mile walk with at least 1000ft of ascent in the Peak District - from Kinder Scout north, but crucially something that will be mostly dry underfoot, or as dry as can be after all this rain! I don't want any bog trotting.

Thanks

How about Crowden > pennine way  > Black Hill > Westend Moss > Quarry > Crowden.

I think pretty much the whole route up should be reasonably bog free. The route down from Black Hill isn't entirely bog-free (surprisingly, given all the areas named 'moss' :p) , but not that bad by peak district standards, from memory. No guarantees offered considering the recent rain though!

Bog free my arse! Just been for a stroll round the lowlands near Black Hill and I reckon the water table is about as high as it can get. Even paths that are normally dry in winter are either streams or quagmires or both. Good luck up on the moors, you'll need it.
