We are heading out for a couple of days later this week on the plateau or Lairig Ghru weather permitting. This will involve a night out and as such will be leaving the car somewhere in the area.

Does anyone know or have experience of which lay-bys or car parks permit overnight parking and are generally safe for doing so? Thanks in advance.

You can leave cars at the ski centre car park. I've done that in both winter and summer. I do check in with the ranger and do one of their little route cards, and give a car park donation. Only time I've had a problem with that car park was on a day walk when I got back to find the rear windscreen had been hit, probably by a stone on the very strong wind, and broken.

I often use Whitewell never had any problems, my cars an old banger so probably not worth robbing.
