Steps are going in at the moment. They're making good progress with the work.

It is controversial putting stone flags down. IMHO, the erosion in this delicate (& worn) locaton merits it, it's just in time for the Three Peakers season, and the flags that were put down a couple of years ago between the trig point and the top of the "Big End" (route towards gate leading to Bracken Bottom) have made a big difference to the erosion, and have already grassed in well.

There are a lot of flag-stone paths now on Kinder Scout, and generally I'm ok with it where the intent is to prevent damage to the bog, peat and moor.

I like the fact that they used the flags from the floors of the old mills as well - a good piece of recycling. They also blend in very quickly.
