Does anyone now what the road conditions are like on the A66 between Scotch Corner & Penrith ?

The road across up near Newcastle was fine though, bit of a long way around, like.

It's been closed for about a week. The BBC travel page is pretty good for updates on when it's closed/open.

Lake District main roads are ok with care. Minor roads and the high passes are either closed or difficult. Radio Cumbria website is useful http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/travel/roads.shtml
