I seem to remember some knowledgeable people on here on the topic of glaciers.

Am I right in thinking that where one would find an outwash zone, there wouldn't be any moraines in the area too, or would it be possible as the glacier retreats due to melting, for there to be remaining moraines as well as a river system generated by the glacial meltwater?

I'm browsing the internet for answers to, figured a multiprong approach could be a plan.

Ta.

In reply to Timmd:

There are plenty of remanent moraines in SE England that survived outwash as the ice retreated.

In reply to John Stainforth:

I thought it must be possible. I now just need to work out if it's a sandur feature I've mapped in several places, or meltwater river moraines.

I think the ''periglacial'' features have been exaggerated at the expense of the glacial.

Yeah it’s certainly not uncommon to find remnants of moraines in outwash zones. Is some parts of the world you get both well preserved. It really depends on the topography and style of deglaciation.
