Hadn't heard that since a post-student Lake District trip with 5 of us plus kit in a 950cc Fiesta with only 3 cylinders, trying to get over Honister Pass (3rd attempt worked) while my mate's Ivor Biggun tape played endlessly.

Uncanny! One of my defining lakes experiences was taking a 3 cylinder (!!) Fiesta over wrynose/ hardnott. It didn't end well.

In fact the only time that car fired on 4 cylinders was on a trip to Brittany when i bought expensive insurance to get a proper hire car when the fester inevitably died. It waited till Plymouth to bork
