I’m considering buying a second hand Mazda bongo which was a cat C write off and had been subsequently repaired.
Would an AA vehicle check determine whether the vehicle is roadworthy or would they not want to take the risk with such a vehicle?

Any advice much appreciated.

In reply to Hillseeker:

You should be able to get the insurer's report regarding the damage from the seller, and then if any of that damage is to a part that could affect safety, as in bent chassis, drivetrain/axles, brakes, etc rather than just bodywork, get details of what repairs were done and have that inspected by a suitable mechanic.

Depends, i have a colleague who had an AA inspection done, the car wasn't a write off but had front and rear damage repaired (poorly) that wasn't spotted on inspection and led to a failure after around a month of using it, they tried to claim from the AA but were told the damage would not have been noticed without removing body covers, grilles etc. so got a away and leave us alone kind of response

Most low cost 'vehicle inspections' are a cursory look over and a drive round to look for slipping clutches etc, (unless the tyres are worn below limit, in which case they won't get driven.

It's like expecting the cheapest 'tick box' valuers report for a house to do a full structural survey.
