Any electricians out there?

I've had an eicr test done and 2 circuits were marked as F1 due to low insulation resistance. They were 2.15 and 2.44 Mohms so more than twice the 1Mohm minimum.

The electrician has marked the report as 'unsatisfactory' on this basis. He says napit guidance is he must investigate them as they are below 200.

In an ideal world they would be 200ish but can he actually fail the system? I've spoken to another time served sparky (30+years) who said over 2 on an existing system should not be failed. I've tried ringing napit but no response yet.

Cheers

BS 7671 says that the minimum is 1Mohm, and that values between 1 and 2Mohm should be investigated. Would seem that the other sparky who said it should not be failed is correct.

How old is the installation?

I think I'd want it checked out if it was mine, if I was doing it for someone else, I might let then make their mind up about it.

2.15 isn't the great, was this for a single circuit or combined?

Thanks for the replies, a bit of a specialist question but I know there's  usually some sparkies on here!

I think it's about 25 years old and the lowest reading is for a single circuit.

It was getting a bit stressful yesterday as it's for a rental house to comply with the brand new regs on letting and the agents didn't tell me until late last week it needed an inspection. I've got tenants due in on Friday and I've got an electrician demanding an unspecified amount of money to trace and fix a 'fault'  creating who knows what mess on circuits that aren't actually faulty.

Anyhow, my 'other' electrician delved into the new letting regs and found that a different electrician can sort out any issues without doing a full inspection and I've got 28 days to do it so panic over. So I've handed it over to him.

Thanks again for replying.
