My friend is starting up a small stall/business.

Does anybody know of any options where they can take payment contactlessly with as little hardware required?

Can all this be done with a tablet and or phone?

And roughly how much would all this cost to maintain?

Cheers muchly

Isn't there a TV advert showing just what they need?

I believe PayPal do a card reader you can link to your mobile, giving a portable machine for taking card payments.

Me and Mrs Num Num are in the Iron and Steel business.

She irons and I steal.

iZettle, about £60 to buy the reader then a small percentage per transaction. Link the reader up with an iphone/ipad/alternate brand and it works a charm!

Another vote for izettle its very easy to use and cheaper to buy and has lower fees than the PayPal one. I have also tried sumup but I definately prefer izettle.

Thanks for the advice and personal thoughts on a few options. It's much appreciated.

Second this- all the little 'mesters'- or 'guzzlers' at the Wentworth House Ginfest a couple of weeks ago seemed to be using this interface.

(All small scale gin producers, flogging their wares electronically in a big dilapidated mansion in the wilds of South Yorkshire.)

Another vote here for izettle.
