I'm a member of the Yorkshire Gritstone club and as such am automatically a BMC member, but how can I prove that I am for reasons of discounts in Mountain huts please?

You should get a BMC card with a membership number on if you qualify for BMC club membership. If you have just joined and missed when the cards are sent out annually, send BMC an email and they will be able to tell you your membership number.

They're easy to miss sometimes. Did you get a copy of Summit magazine through the post? You should get that once a year and that'll have your paper membership card in.

If you mean getting discounts in Alpine huts, then just being a BMC member (or having a BMC membership card) isn't enough: you need a 'Reciprocal Rights Card' - see https://www.thebmc.co.uk/alpine-huts-explained

Of course you can try your luck with just a BMC card; it can work.
