A dozen mountaineering books just gone into the Travel shelves at Oxfam in Glossop.

Thanks!  A nice copy of The Black Cliff and Extreme Rock.  Been looking for those.

Really, Extreme Rock? I presume you're trolling.

Why ? My copy came from Oxfam (Salisbury)

Open market price for ER in good condition is £100-£150

So I am just surprised that it ever turns up in charity shops (although I have looked ). Hard and Classic Rock are worth much less and I have seen those.

What did you pay in Oxfam shop?

In reply to Michael Hood:

It was priced at £5, I paid quite a bit more which surprised the woman behind the counter who couldn't believe the book was at all valuable. Maybe the same shop where I found a long out of print and valuable book on botanical illustration, again I paid well over the asking price.

Both several years ago, I think Oxfam now check on line prices if they have any suspicion that a book is valuable although that does rely on the volunteers being aware that something, possibly very specialised, is potentially worth more than the majority of novels etc that end up in Oxfam

Well done for giving them more. I've got an original bought retail copy so it's not really an issue

Well done for setting a great example.

Had you on a stopwatch as soon as I saw about Extreme Rock being bought in a charity shop! Thanks for not disappointing.

The Black Cliff?! I had to pay 50 quid for my scruffy second-hand copy from a bookshop (I just had to have it, one of the best climbing books ever IMO)

In reply to Co1in H:So, back to the original topic.

Oxfam in Glossop has a few reasonable climbing books.

However, it does not have an Extreme Rock or a Black Cliff.

If I spot anything of that ilk when I go to my voluntary book sorting shift there I will let you all know.

Yes I have declared my interests and there's no staff discount either.
