Another one of these did you know threads....

That trident runs on a varient Windows XP software - bought because it was cheaper.

Is that actually secure?

Yes. It will be patched as the US DoD are Microsoft Gold Partners.

I'd imagine Trident would actually use Windows for Submarines, no?

Maybe people are being flippant because they're not really bothered? It's not as if the launch system is going to be logging onto dodgy Russian porn sites from underneath the arctic ice cap. I'm surprised it's running anything as modern as XP.

Meanwhile in a parallel universe, Mice Tochter is regurgitating something about how Trident is being run on not the best value system but a higher priced one so there must be some corruption involved in the bidding.
