Can't we just build a very, very high radiation proof wall around the whole place and let them get on with it?

Actually, I suspect we'd get along OK without them now. There are lots of new oil fields in production now, in the South China sea, Western Australia, West Africa, West Texas. Further, as the internal combustion engine disappears so will 70% of the oil market. So no, lets not bother with a big hole.

Or most people will be forced to leave and will eventually end up living in the woods in Calais or washing up dead on a Spanish beach.   We live in a global world, isolationism isn't an option.
