I'm considering a career swerve from NHS towards outdoor education as my current job is coming to an end. The company in the title offer paid training to complete ML/MIC/MIA type qualifications in return for making a commitment to work with them afterwards for a period. This is enticing as if I lose my current job I don't have the money to pay for training and simultaneously sustain myself financially.  I was just wondering whether anyone had any experience of this organisation/company. Interested in what they are like as an employer and what the courses they run that you'd be delivering once qualified are like, as well as more practical info on rate of pay while training and once qualified and working for them.

Not sure if off belay is the right forum but any info at all appreciated

Is it Lakshmi Adventure? If so my workplace blocked it as porn! They could still be legit but that's not a great start in my book.

The other results were nothing to do with outdoor qualifications.

Appears to be the same people as No Boundaries. There was a heated discussion here recently about their practices. That thread seems to have disappeared.

Approach with caution would be my advice. At no point do they say who the instructors are, what qualifications you get, there are no AMI, Mountain Training or IFMGA logos or badges anywhere, they seem to be part of the nebulous and ill-defined World Adventure Group (WAG) whose opening sentence on their website is:

"World Adventure Group LTD provides an unapparelled service for businesses looking to increase their reach and revenue."

In short, seems like a bogus outfit who embody nothing of what a career in the outdoors would mean for me.

Thanks for responses...I had my suspicions too which is exactly why I tested it out here. Such a strange thing to put lots of time and effort into if its some sort of scam. I'm intrigued now about this disappeared thread that Flaneur mentioned!

No discussion though.

BTW Street view and a google on the address, seems to have it as a shared office space. Nothing bad in that, but might help one to get a more rounded picture. There may be a difference between one person at a renta desk and a company that owns their own building.

Hi, I'm Mark Walker (Dez) one of the Directors of Lakshmi and World Adventure Group Ltd.

As pointed out there is a lack of "instructors page" on the website, we took this down recently to redesign it.

To give you an overview of the company as a whole, the organisation is comprised of:

World Adventure Group Ltd; which is the company by which we manage the following companies:

No Boundaries Limited - which offer climbing, bouldering, canyoning, skiing, mountaineering and more. Generally for day-out, weekends, and weeks in the UK and elsewhere in the world ; though many of our activities are focussed around the European Alps, in particular Italy.

Exped Adventure Limited - which offers Polar, Remote and High Altitude Expeditions worldwide.

Mercury Adventure - all of the above but on a bespoke basis, and also where we do corporate and charity events.

Lakshmi Outdoors Ltd - which is set up to offer skills courses, CPD and qualifications.

----

There are many reason why we have structured in this was, with the main one being that No Boundaries and Exped Adventure were operated successfully and independently for some time by Francesco and Myself respectively - so when we decided to "partner up" we didn't want to dilute the two companies. Lakshmi also serves as where all our leaders, instructors and guides are onboarded and employed from - this saves on having different databases for each company.

---

The program which you speak of is in a very minor sense, much like a "fast track" instructor scheme; but we don't charge for it, and it is totally legitimate; just fire an enquiry in a we will speak to you all about it.

---

There are many leaders, instructors and guides who work with us on a regular basis throughout the world doing all of our various activities; and we only employ people who are correctly qualified and fit for the job.

The operations side of things are overseen by:

Me - Mark Walker - WML, MCI (I cover all aspects, but am focused on the UK and Overseas - outside of the European Alps)

and

Lorenzo Valenti IFMGA (Lorenzo covers the European operations)

A note on the badges and logos - there will be logos and badges against individuals names and their own qualifications once we have updated the page, that way everyone can see who is who.
