Amongst all the doom and gloom, here is some unexpected good news:- three major landowners (Yorkshire Water, United Utilities & the National Trust) have all banned the torching of their moorlands for profit by grouse estates. This ban will be in place even after the CV crisis has subsided. Quite remarkable:- https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/apr/04/grou...

Good news but, much like the way drag hunts seem to manage to stumble across a fox quite regularly, I can see an increase in accidental moorland fires.

This is for tenanted land though so it would just be "this is the 10th time he made that mistake. Sadly we see no option but to end the tenancy".

In related news the Scottish parliament did ban it for the duration of the crisis after the voluntary ban failed. The outrage was quite spectacular.

Not in Scotland we’ve been choking on it in Aberdeenshire for a month and they are still at their “essential “ work.

Its banned in Scotland from tomorrow. Emergency legislation has received Royal Assent. So report them if they keep it up.
