I’m at home today, so sat in the conservatory watching the annual frog orgy in the pond when I spotted odd goings on at the new nest box!
I put this up at Christmas and a lone blue tit took almost immediate interest. Over the last few weeks (I assume it is a he) has been trying to get a mate interested in the potential nest site, with little success so far.
Today I spotted a pair of great tits taking an interest, one making repeated visits inside and hammering the box, I presume to test it for rot. Any said blue tit turns up and takes exception to the presence of the great tit pair and has so far fought them off.
I do hope one takes up residence, place your bets.
or will the both be put off?
