I’m after a bit of advice, please, if anyone may have experienced something similar....?
I have fully ruptured my A2 pulley on my left middle finger. The consultant compared the damage to running a knife through a folded piece of paper. My tendon being the knife and the pulley being the paper.
My A1 and A3 are intact, however.
The consultant advised that this can be operated on but made me aware of the pros and cons. Tbh, not many pros and potentially more cons such as, it’ll never be as strong as the original, potential scar tissue, potential tendon drag within the sheath... quite a long list really.
So, I am wondering if anyone out there has had a similar injury and had a surgery. If they have was it worth it or is it a regret.
I could just crack on and try taping it for the rest of my life and hope it sorts itself and gets stronger over time or risk surgery as well as tape.
I am resting at the moment as it is still quite swollen and hurts when pressure is applied to the area.
I am not after sympathy, it is what it is, just hoping to learn from others.
