Thoughts? At first I was quite impressed, but one of the comments made me think about how this affects the locals and limits their livelihood.

At least they are trying to do good with their money, experience and success, even if there is some vanity in the pursuit, not that there is any evidence of that. It must be impossible to please everyone. I guess the tourist dollar will vastly improve living standards for many, but at the expense of a way of life.

Talented, enterprising people can do great things. I'll watch with interest.

Is this something new? I thought there project had been going on for ages. Search out the film "180 degrees south" if you want an insight and some great footage of the region.

I was going to recommend the same movie as soon as I read the OP.
A really good movie. Yvon Chouinard comes across a great guy who seems to care about the area

It does need to be kept in perspective - the total area they have impacted is equivalent to a square 60 miles on a side.

Ah, didn't know anything about it prior to this. Will check the film out, cheers!
