First, thanks for all the earlier responses on my concerns
I did the short British Dyslexia Association assessment, which was then evaluated by a BDA assessor, which although there was some evidence of dyslexia, as none of mo scores were below average, she concluded that dyslexia was not likely. I then followed this up with the dyspraxia self-assessment questionnaire, which was more interesting.
I scored 62, which apparently indicates a risk of dyspraxia. Over 65 is the threshold for probably dyspraxia. I contacted the British Dyspraxia helpline, whose advice was to follow this up with my GP as I would need a referral to an occupational therapist for a medical diagnosis.
I saw my GP on Friday, and she was great (given the 10 m in consultation). She is going to try and get an assessment if this possible in my area. I actually felt as if someone was listening. I appreciate this may not come out with a positive diagnosis, but at least I'm doing something.
cheers
