Swapping wheels and alignment/balancing

I got new tyres on the car this spring and they corrected the tracking on them when they were fitted. I'm just swapping over to a set of steel wheels and winter tyres I had on last winter and wondered if it's worth taking it into the garage to get it checked or whether I should only bother if I notice abnormal handling.

Thanks

In reply to Sharp:

Tracking should not be affected, but balancing might be. You'll notice balancing as a vibration at certain speeds.

All the alignment adjustments are done in relation to the car and the hub, so the wheels will not change this.

If however you have kerbed the car recently, or hit a pothole, it is worth checking tracking. These are the common ways to knock tracking out.

In reply to thebrookster: Cheers for the info, I wasn't quite sure whether a different sized wheel would change anything.
I might just take it in for it anyway, not sure if they charge but I'm always hitting pot holes so it might save me some tyre wear in the future.

Thanks

Ben
