As part of a deal negotiated in 2011, the Sovereign Grant (essentially the Queen's funding as Head of State) is calculated as:
- 15% of the profits from The Crown Estate in the previous year, OR
- the Sovereign Grant for the previous year
, whichever is the greater. (i.e. the Sovereign Grant cannot decrease from one year to the next, even if The Crown Estate were to make a loss. Handy, eh?)

As a result of profits made by The Crown Estate in the last year the amount paid to the Queen will increase from £36.1m in 2013 to £37.89m 2014, a pay rise of 4.8% (approx £34k/week). The balance of the profits go to The Treasury.

I'm guessing it's not means-tested...

13. Although The Queen's estate will be subject to Inheritance Tax, bequests from Sovereign to Sovereign are exempt*. This is because the Sovereign is unable to generate significant new wealth through earnings or business activities, and to recognise the requirement for the Monarchy to have a degree of financial independence.

*in other words, when Charles eventually inherits Balmoral, he won't pay Inheritance Tax

It also repeats the often-heard claim from The Crown Estate that it owns the land under its jurisdiction. It doesn't; it administers it but the Queen is the legal owner.
