I'm in the market for a wheeled, trolly type, bag that can also be carried as a rucksack. Like the one in the link below. It does not have to be from an outdoor company, but it does have to be able to meet the requirements of a carry-on aircraft sized bag. The one in the link does not, it is just outside the limits of 55x35x25 cms.
My very first UKC review was for the optimus http://www.ukclimbing.com/gear/review.php?id=266 I've taken it on planes as hand luggage a number of times, but budget airline hand luggage if being enforced seems so small the idea of a trolly just seems redundant, because the bag can't be very heavy anyway.
My first choice would have been the Berghaus Optimus, but as it is just outside the size limit for carry-on I don't want to chance it. I've been looking at the Lowe Apline TT roll on 40 about an hour ago, perfect, but at twice the price of th Optimus I feel there has to be a better deal out there. I'll keep looking but if anyone has any other recommendations I'm all ears. Thanks.
I have not tried one but Sports Direct do a few, from Kangol. Nice brown leather. Decathlon do a stupidly cheap one that looks like it will fall apart quickly...they have more upmarket ones.
Thanks Tim. That's a fine looking bag, and they do one similar with wheels. The drawback is that it is very pricey. Something around the £50 mark is where I'm at, hence my initial interest in the Optimus. I've a few weeks yet before I'll need it so I'll keep looking.
