Just earlier, on my pre-work walk, I was watching two hares hopping about in a recently mown field. While I was trying to get them both in my photo they began to move towards me as I leaned on the field gate. They must have known I was there, we had eye contact, but on they came. I kept still and the two of them just crept under the gate and then sauntered off along the track. I could have reached down and touched them. I used to get close views of hares when I lived in a caravan but that was through a window. A close encounter of the eared kind?
