Reaction to my posts that I have voted Labour in this election made me think.

In past elections I have voted

Labour
Conservative
Mebyon Kernow.
Monster raving loony
Independent.

Yourselves?

In reply to Big Ger:

I was just too young to vote in the 1992 election and probably would have voted Lib Dem, in what was then a Lib Dem constituency. In 1997 I voted Labour in a constituency 200 miles away and have voted Labour in general elections every time since. I have voted Lib Dem a couple of times in loca elections and even green once in European elections.

A mix of Con/Lab/Lib with no clear leader which might surprise BnB watchers.

In the local elections I've voted Green recently because I'm a Hebden Bridger and that's how we roll in our little bubble.

Is there much of a difference?

In reply to Big Ger:

2001 (my first at) - Conservative
2005 - Labour
2010 - Green
2015 - Green

I've only ever lived in Labour safe seats (if there is such a thing any more) so Green seemed like a good idea to point my MPs towards environmental issues.

In reply to Big Ger:
Not sure I can remember but would include -
Liberal
LibDem
Labour
Green
Communist (local election & a vote for someone with a track record as an effective councillor)
Europe Écologie Les Verts (in France rather than the UK)

But I have no vote on the 8th (or the 11th & 18th)

Lib dems, labour and green.
I've been voting in national polls for 30 years in which time I've voted for the national winner once (1997) and the local winner twice (92 and 97).

In reply to Big Ger:

Labour this time.

Previously

Green
Labour
Lib-Dem
Conservative.
Communist Party GB.

Not really a floating voter, it's just that getting shot of hopeless apratchik candidates is sometimes as important as voting for the party that best represents your view.

Which is left libertarian. So kind of tricky.

I think the "dislike" you got for this tells it's own story. The humourless nature of rampant left wing knee-jerk "disliking" is enough to make anyone vote UKIP, let alone Tory.

PS that isn't a serious comment either. Lighten up everyone

Liberal/ Lib Dem mainly. Once for Yorkshire First. I've never voted for a winner, either nationally or locally.

Lib-Dem & Green in past national elections, mainly Green locally. Will be voting Labour this week.

In reply to Big Ger:

Lib Dem or green for me.
This time it's Labour as they stand the best chance against the tory incumbent.

If I ever vote tory my partner is under strict orders to take me to the nearest vet and have me put down.

In reply to Big Ger:

Fair assessment.

To add my contribution to this:

2010 - Labour (back when I lived in leafy Hertforshire)
2015 - Plaid (more chance of unseating our Lib Dem incumbent than a Labour vote)
2016 (Assembly) - Plaid - Labour in Wales frankly are too Blairite for my tastes
2017 - Probably Plaid, same reasons as 2015/16 above.

I have always voted for Labour, did once think about voting for the Lib dems, but that prat from Sheffield quickly changed my mind. I could never vote for Ukip or even worse the cons, slimey barstewards.

2017: Labour
2015, 2010 & 2005: Lib Dem
All the others: Labour back to 1983.

Scottish elections: Lib Dem or Green 1st. Labour 3rd, SNP 4th, never Tory and ukip don't deserve a mention.
Council Elections: Green

I have spoiled a ballot but I cannot remember what or when.
I'm also a member of the SNP since the signing of Article 50, though I have never voted for them and quite possibly never will. I'll vote Yes every time though.

Referendums:
Yes to AV
Yes to Scottish Independence
Remain in EU.

Living in an area so pro labour that even a sheep sporting a labour rosette would get elected, for years I didn’t even bother.
However after getting caught by a cutie collecting names for the electoral register and being stuck on it ever since despite never responding to the annual invitation to register for the Electoral Register.

Election before last: Conservative
Last election: Probably had something better to do
Referendum: Out
Last: Welsh Nationalists (had intended to vote Green, but as there wasn’t a Green candidate, why not help them keep their deposit?).

British politics – The binary autocracy. Why can’t we have something like the Swiss model?
Perhaps with more experience of referendums, people would actually take politics seriously and their voices would matter on a day to day basis rather than once every 4 years, when some chancer of a PM…….
