Tearing my hair out, even though I haven't got any to start with.

Took lots of photos yesterday on my G7X. Stopped off at the pub, and looked at them all in camera.

Got home to download from the SD card in the card slot on the laptop.

Resulted import did not have yesterday's photos. Browsed the card, no photos from yesterday.

Tried using Recuva, nothing. 

Whats's going on?

I had this once on one of my cameras. I had accidentally set it to record the pictures to its internal memory and I recovered them. Not sure if this is your problem.

(1) Immediately pull the card out of whatever machine it is in - do not unmount it or safely remove it just pull it out.

(2) Get this https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

(3) Let photorec have the disk - if there is anything left of your photos it will get it and it won't alter the flash card one jot.

It's pretty impressive
