/ Photo size
Just come across this photo and well, it's big. https://www.ukclimbing.com/photos/dbpage.php?id=333313
But when I submit some panos they come out small . What is going on. Has the sizing rules changed?
So very big that you can see the curvature of the earth!
Is the file size too big with a full size pano?
Hiya, sorry for the late response.
Max photo size has changed from 250kB to 1MB.
Landscapes were resized to 1200px. They are now resized to 2540px wide, if they're above 1MB they are resized to 1920px wide, then again to 1200px if it's still too big.
Portraits were resized to 800px. They are now resized to 1440px tall, if they're above 1MB they are resized to 1080px tall, then again to 800px if it's still too big.
In a nutshell if you export at max 2540 wide and 1440 high and keep it under 1MB then the server won't have to do any processing and it should look the best it can. We will convert the JPG to WebP for display on browsers that support that format but that's it.
You kept that quiet Paul, but very welcome all the same. Now to shoot some cracking pics!

... and about time too!
If we use the "Replace this Photo" option available for uploaded photos already in our gallery, does it go through moderator again?
I had to check that. Yes, it will need to be approved again, but it shouldn't take long.
Brill, I might start posting images to the gallery again

Just uploaded a try-out that conformed to these constraints, but it still got downsized?
- Uploaded: Image size: 2560 x 1353 pixels (897Kb)
- Resized by UKC: New image size: 1920 x 1015 pixels (603Kb)
Any further tips?
Hi Nicholas, added some more changes. If you have 10 photos uploaded and the average is above 3.75 then they will be auto-approved instead of going through the moderation system.
