Turns out my phone has an astrophotography mode on the camera!

Anyone used this? Hints 'n' tips? Cheers

Point at sky, keep still, press button, KEEP STILL

You mean you point it at the sky, take a photo and then it tells you to beware of over promising to a close friend this week because Uranus is in the twelfth house sort of thing?

Tested it and although the photo below won't be winning any awards it seems functional! It picked up the only star, possibly a planet visible to the naked eye through a gap the clouds. Will try again on a clearer night 

There's more point source heavenly bodies on my computer screen (accumulated small spots of muck).

Night II and skies are clearer. Basically pointed phone up and clicked button. Think I might have captured The Northern Cross here? Part of the Cygnus constellation?? Stars slightly elongated due to wobbly arms.

I apologise now for the shitness of these snaps but I am quite enthused by the whole thing, as amateurish as they are!!!
