So tomorrow the full moon sets just thirty minutes after sunrise. Great forecast too. The right time to be in the right place........  Time for this https://www.mooncalc.org/#/57.4136,-6.1946,16/2018.12.21/11:12/1/0, maps and some trigonometry.

You mean before sunrise?

For anyone using an Android phone, there's a remarkable free app called "Daff Moon" that's well worth taking the time to download and have a bit of a play with.

No, after. For a worrying moment there, I wondered whether I'd got it wrong!

Ah yes, quite right, my mistake sorry.

The moonrise this afternoon was a good one down this way.  It came up just as I was getting back to my van after a little run in the Peak, one of those 'wow' moments that makes you glad to be out there.

Wow.

This moonrise pic is quite something too.  (And apt for the thread.)

Yes, I noticed that. And quite good timing of moonrise and sunset previous afternoon (and a Sunday!)

I know! I have a really good project in mind, just need to borrow and adapter and monster lens to do it justice!

Another thing to have a look at is Stellarium - free to download and shows the sky for anywhere on Earth for just about anywhen.
