Duty Manager’s wanted, excellent pay and great development opportunities. 

City Bouldering is opening up in October 2021 and looking for a friendly and passionate staff to create an amazing new climbing gym. The centre is located in the square mile and right next to Aldgate station. 

Open every day from morning until late evening, managing our centres requires an energetic and self-motivated person, able to self motivate themselves and ensure our customers have a fantastic experience during every visit leaving them looking forward to their next.

Our Duty Manager’s will be responsible for creating an atmosphere where customers can have fun, relax, meet new friends and old, and improve their fitness in an inclusive climbing environment, underpinned by the highest standards of safety, customer service and positive team engagement.

Although some experience in the leisure/climbing industry is preferred, we would be willing to provide training to the right person if they should apply. We are passionate about supporting our team and their professional development. You will be trained across all activities and departments, and be responsible for the smooth running of the centre when you are on shift. 

You will report directly to, and have support from, the Centre Manager.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Ensuring the safety of all customers, maintaining the centre’s facilities and providing excellent customer service.
  • Managing receptions, making coffee and roaming the centre to look after customers ensuring people are bouldering safely and the centre is running smoothly.
  • Responsible for keeping the centre aesthetically pleasing 
  • Lead the team in the setup and cleaning of the centre.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the building (Key holder).
  • Carrying out opening and closing checks 
  • Assisting managers with additional tasks
  • Deal with accidents in a professional manner 
  • Organise crew breaks 
  • Utilise/Take charge of the building’s Emergency Accident Procedure should an incident occur

Essential Skills

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience working in a fast paced role 
  • Computer literate 
  • Friendly and professional attitude
  • Able to communicate clearly and politely, verbally and in writing
  • A desire to work hard and be part of a team
  • Ability to use your own initiative and solve problems

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in the climbing industry 
  • Experience of delivering NICAS or NIBAS sessions.
  • Experience as a Duty Manager
  • Personal climbing experience
  • Climbing Qualifications (CWI or relevant experience)
  • Experience working in a leisure facility 
  • First aid qualification

Hours and Location

We operate a flexible agreement,  We require at least 20 hours per week and include some daytime, evening, weekend and Bank Holiday work. It will be based at City Bouldering, 33 Aldgate High Street, London, EC3N 1AH
