Llanberis Mountain Film Festival (LLAMFF) 18th - 20th March 2011

As ever you'll find the eclectic and unexpected at this year's Llanberis Mountain Film Festival and it always makes for a great social gathering. Since the first LLAMFF in 2002 it has tried to stay true to its grass roots vibe.

The backbone of the Festival is the film comp and Best of Banff World Tour but with so many speakers and other events going on over the weekend it is about a lot more than simply the films.

A couple of presentations to look out for at the 2011 Festival, with Mountain Equipment as the main supporting sponsor, include:

  • Keith Partridge - If you've ever wondered what it takes to be an adventure cameraman at the highest level then don't miss Keith on Saturday evening. He was one of the camera crew behind the spectacular BBC series, The Human Planet, currently showing on telly.

  • Paul Diffley - Climbers I've Shot and some Climbers I'd like to Shoot - Award winning cameraman behind Hot Aches Productions

  • Ian Parnell - British Style - A rollercoaster ride through the mountain life

  • Andy Turner – With the second ascent of The Hurting (XI 11) under his belt this winter he knows what Pushing the Limits of Winter Climbing is all about

  • Steve McClure and Lucy Creamer - The Slackers Guide Reloaded - What drives their ambition to climb at the highest level?

See http://www.llamff.co.uk/speakers.htm for a full list of speakers

    PLUS

  • Mountain artists Andy Parkin and Rowan Huntley
  • George and Noel’s Famous Quiz on the Friday night
  • Recreation and conservation in Snowdonia 2050 forum
  • Beacon Climbing master class and bouldering competition
  • 'Hands on' sports injury workshops from Snowdonia Sports Medicine
  • Photographic treasure hunt for kids

And to top it all, it's hard to think of a finer setting for a mountain film festival, situated as it is at the foot of Snowdon and the Llanberis Pass. An inspirational festival in an inspirational setting.
