Job Title:                      Operations Manager

Reporting to:                 CEO

Hours:                          Full-time (37.5hrs)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Mile End Climbing Wall for a full-time Operations Manager.

Mile End Climbing Wall is the original dedicated indoor climbing facility in the UK. We opened our doors in 1986 and have been serving climbers and our local community ever since. Our centre sees continual development and remains one of the best bouldering facilities in London.

Working as part of the senior management team you will be responsible for the day to day running of a busy indoor climbing centre including responsibility for strategic planning, finances, staffing, quality assurance, customer satisfaction and safeguarding.

A strong element of this particular role will be the line management of others including; Duty Managers, Health and Safety Manager, Cleaners, Head of Instruction and the Routesetting Manager. We are looking for someone with solid and demonstrable experience of managing a team in a busy demanding workplace, someone who can take control but who also knows how and when to delegate. You must be self-motivated and be confident to deal with issues that may arise with both customers and staff.

The ideal candidate will have strong managerial experience, ideally based within the climbing industry. A climbing background and Mountain Training qualification would also be an advantage; but not a necessity.

You should be familiar and confident with Microsoft Office software (including Office 365). Knowledge and experience of using staff rota software e.g. Planday would be an advantage.

This role will involve weekend and evening work from time to time.

The role includes that of the Designated Safeguarding Lead and the ideal candidate will have hands-on, up to date experience of safeguarding processes and procedures for children and adults at risk.

We offer a range of benefits including a generous holiday entitlement, free climbing for you and a plus-one and company sick pay.

To apply please send a current CV showing your full employment history (accounting for any gaps) along with a supporting statement of no more than 2 sides of A4 outlining why you would be the perfect candidate for this role (please make sure you show how you meet the criteria outlined on the person specification).

Email your application to ariana@mileendwall.org.uk

The deadline for applications is midnight on 15th January 2021

Interviews are currently scheduled for Wednesday 20th January 2021

Much of our work is with children and adults at risk of abuse and as such we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, this role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
