About us
These are exciting times here at the National Trust. Last year our membership grew to 3.8 million – with people enjoying adventures at our amazing places all across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. But we’ve got big ambitions. Really big ambitions. We want even more people to enjoy the extraordinary places we look after, to get involved with them, be inspired by them, and love them as much as we do. And we want everyone to feel a sense of pride and belonging in the National Trust.

About the role
Here in the Lake District, we’re excited about what we’ve already achieved and what we can do to realise a few more of our ambitions. So we’ll be listening closely to your ideas, looking to your business acumen and relying on your people management skills to help us achieve the fine balance between delivering a fantastic visitor experience and customer care while also protecting properties for future generations. As well as managing existing commercial operations such as the Footprint Building, car parks, membership recruitment, retail and information services, you’ll explore and deliver exciting new commercial opportunities.

About you
Innovative and entrepreneurial, with a broad understanding of the outdoors and tourism industries, you’ll be full of great ideas and exciting new ways on how best to market and promote the iconic Lake District. You’ll also have the management skills needed to bring your ideas to life, inspiring everyone around you to get involved and make things them happen. You pride yourself on getting the best out of people, and you’ll ensure that we’re making the most of all available resources and expertise, whether direct team members, seasonal colleagues or volunteers. A business all-rounder, with one eye on the detail and the other on the bigger commercial picture, you’ll be able to show where you’ve successfully developed and grown a business through good project management. It’s also important that you have excellent financial management and budgetary control skills.
