Operations Manager - Summit Up Climbing Centre, Oldham.
Summit Up climbing centre opening in Oldham in August 2021 is set to become one of the most exciting facilities of its kind.
Featuring the largest Clip ’n Climb in the north of England, bouldering, roped climbing, ValoClimb, soft play and cafe, it will aim to provide a fantastic experience for people of all ages and abilities.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as operations manager to help with the day to day running of the centre.
The successful candidate will support the general manager in performing the following duties.
Responsibilities of the Role.
Ensure the highest levels of customer service and safety are maintained at all times and that Summit Up is well represented.
Assist the duty managers in carrying out their roles effectively.
Support the general manager and marketing manager as required.
Ensure that all staff training is undertaken as required and staff are given adequate support and guidance in performing their duties.
Ensure good management of the route setting schedule. That climbers of all abilities are catered for and that route setting disruption is kept to a minimum.
Be responsible for PPE inspections being carried out and any report any issues to the GM immediately.
Manage staff members effectively.
Instruct to a high standard as required, leading the instructors by example.
Be professional, approachable and friendly at all times.
Have sole responsibility of the centre at times and be confident in resolving any issues.
With the GM and technical advisor review risk assessments and procedures to ensure best practice is being maintained.
Work regular duty manager shits as required including evenings and weekends.
Experience of working in the climbing wall industry.
Hold relevant climbing instructor qualifications and the relevant experience to perform the duties required capably.
Excellent verbal, written and organisational skills.
Be a confident team leader with a proven track record.
Ability to use own initiative and solve problems.
Enjoy working as part of a team whilst being an enthusiastic self starter.
Passionate about climbing and awareness of industry trends.
Have an excellent level of instructing experience, across a broad range of ages and abilities.
Have excellent customer service skills.
Be driven towards personal development and motivated to help others become better instructors.
Experience of route setting or managing a route setting schedule.
Experience of performing PPE inspections and ideally using Papertrail.
Experience of delivering NICAS sessions.
Experience of training instructors.
Experience of using an EPoS system.
Knowledge of Clip ’N Climb operations.
Able to demonstrate creative ways of generating footfall.
Hours and Location.
The position will be full time (37.5 hours per week) and include some daytime, evening, weekend and Bank Holiday work. It will be based at Summit Up Climbing Centre, Oldham.
