The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour has returned to the UK and started with two sell out shows in Scotland. This week the Tour heads to Stafford, Keswick (sold out) and Stockport.
Come and see why more than 200,000 people across the globe gather indoors at Banff screenings to celebrate the outdoors!
As well as seeing amazing films, you can also win some GREAT PRIZES INCLUDING GEAR FROM THE NORTH FACE, A 7 DAY TRIP FOR TWO PEOPLE TO CANADA AND AN ORANGE G3 MOUNTAIN BIKE. The bar will be open too!
Feature films will include: COLD - Up until now 16 expeditions have tried and failed to climb one of Pakistan's 8,000 metre peaks in the heart of winter. Experience the chilling first-hand footage as 3 climbers set out to be the first and the harrowing descent that amplifies their isolation and exposure to the extreme cold - and then when they are almost down an avalanche hits.
REEL ROCK - ORIGINS: OBE & ASHIMA - The story of a 9 year old girl taking the bouldering world by storm and her name is Ashima. Guided by her coach and former bouldering star Obe, this tiny master is crushing competitions and raising the bar for climbing's youth. A trip to Hueco Tanks in Texas, a bouldering mecca, provides a glimpse of the past for Obe and the start of amazing new adventures for Ashima.
As well as the above films, there will be a selection of other brilliant and award-winning mountain films featuring mountain biking, skiing, whitewater kayaking and you can even see the amazing slackliner Sketchy Andy (who very bizarrely had a gig in the Super Bowl half time show with Madonna).
