Best Climbing Experience
The next time I remember to look over my shoulder and take in the amazing place I've got myself into this time. The next time I scare myself shitless on an E2, the next time I scare myself shitless on a V.Diff. All day mountain routes, sea cliff routes that shouldn't really take all day, boulder problems that take ten seconds. Not being able to feel my fingers because it's so cold, sheltering under overhangs from sideways rain, dodging sunburn, crawling with midges, having my chalkbag emptied for me by the howling gale that's blowing on the slopey topout. flapjack. Laughing with friends, not being able to talk on the walk in because it's too steep/ too long/ too scary. Monster drives, listening to the flaming lips, for a few hours' climbing or mountain biking. Feeling the first bite of the winter, seeing the first leaves of the spring, going out in only a t-shirt for the first time that year. Beanie hats, duvet jackets, shorts that show too much white thigh on that rockover, and big white boxer shorts poking out through my climbing harness. Waking up in my tent, sweating, realising that the sun comes over over THERE, and it's not in the shade after all. Waking up in my tent, freezing my ass off, and gettting dressed to go back to sleep again. Cups of tea, pints of beer, smiles and stories. Climbing. Ace, isn't it.
