From Scotland, often out in Arctic Norway (Vesterålen/Lofoten) and Northern flank of the Swiss Alps.

Been climbing rock, ice and Alpine for over 15 years. Enjoy cragging but my main interest is long mountain routes. Love being out on the mountains and enjoy biving and wild camping.

I'm a guy planning to settle down with a guy so happy to meet someone similar.

Originally come from Northern Perthshire. Got mountain bike to shorten long walk-ins :-) and climbing-howf-on-wheels back on road (thanks to all who gave me a lift while it was off the road!).

Some mates call me Will and some call me Rob (first and middle names) - either is fine!

Location
Scotland / Lofoten / Swiss Alps

Best Climbing Experience
Probably leading crux pitch of first ascent of Slighe Annaig V,5 or soloing Tower Ridge on a beautiful spring day - or Kuffner Ridge (Frontier Ridge) on Mont Blanc on a beautiful autumn day. The classic grade V ice routes on the Ben!

Interests Outside Climbing
Rugby, walking, scrambling, wild camping, ski touring, sea kayaking. When it's too wet to climb I like getting caught up with mates, working in garden, listening to music, drinking whiskey and lazing in front of the fire.

About My Photography
Colour landscape. Love interesting light and trying to capture the darkness and light usually used in black and white on colour. The most difficult lighting conditions can give the most rewarding results - when the going gets tough the tough get going. Don't like to make everything in a photo too obvious - like to leave some parts under-exposed or shrouded in mist so the viewer's mind can fill them in - photography is painting with light but it's also about the viewer's interaction with the photograph - they fill in parts of the photograph that are ambiguous, they interpret what they see - it's as much an examination of the viewer as of the subject.

Anything Else We Should Know
I speak some Gaelic. Spent summer 2005 caring for my mother at home while she died of pancreatic cancer - left me physically and psychologically fairly wrecked - regaining my old strength and confidence on rock now - 2006 was a great year for climbing, summer 2007 a bit of a wash-out but September's been good! Very fast and confident leading HS at the moment and lead some great mountain VS 4b and 4c routes this summer - not back to leading HVS but hopefully soon. Lead confidently in winter - grade V if conditions look OK - lower grade in dodgy conditions. Got a good start to winter 2006 with 3 Scottish routes in in November / December (mixture of altitude and dry tooling!) and a great end to the winter in great conditions on Ben Nevis in March! Single and work is very flexible at the moment so usually able to get a fair amount of time out in the hills.

When I say "I'm a guy planning to settle down with a guy so happy to meet someone similar." yes, I am gay / homosexual - I don't much like the words though - any sexual attraction is derived from a much deeper attraction.
