Now based in the Durance Valley in the Ecrins, I ski and climb all year round amongst other mountain activities.
I love big mountain routes as much as trad and sport and big alpine days out bagging summits with easy rock pitches i is much more fun than working single pitch training routes in the valley. I like smaller 5 to 8 pitch routes lower down for quieter days out before the snow melts high up. Big high walks with friends peak bagging for fitness and a feeling of awareness of the big kids that is the alps is as also part of my life and a swim in an alpine lake or for four is also a favourite day out, even better with a bivi night too. I also have a passion for swimming outdoors in the surrounding lakes. I prefer to be outdoors but climb at Warrington when in U.K. in the winter and Guillestre CAF wall in France. Favourite local crags are Mont Dauphin and top peas this year were the Dibona and Soreiller although it’s hard to not love the Pic d Asti.
I also love trad in Morrocco and summers are Gogarth and Llanberis. Cornwall Sardinia Kalymnos Spain Mallorca France Provence Ecrins Ailefroide Queyras and Morocco are amongst my go tos.

Location
Hautes Alpes 05

Best Climbing Experience
Enjoying the sound of the waves and watching seals and kayaks from belay stances at Gogarth and Cornwall. Sea Cliff climbing brings another kind of magic.
Listening to the call to prayer, donkeys braying and the hum of bees from belay ledges high up in the anti atlas mountains in morrocco. Listening to frogs singing in an oasis near Tafraoute!
sitting in the sunshine on a glacier in the alps... watching golden eagle fly over me in les houches... standing on top of tryfan the first time 20 years ago now... discovering france
taking my boys up to sleep in the glacier blanc hut and sharing their first experiences with them, truly wonderful memories of watching my eldest thirst after the dome de neige ... My boys' first leads ...
So many great times. We are lucky to enjoy climbing as a lifestyle ..
