PhD with the Dept. of Medical Physics then for some reason picked up and moved out to California to work for a BioTech... Apprenticeship on grit, followed by a good few years getting to know big granite in Yosemite, then settled in to Alpine life in Milan. Now living back in California exploring US crags.

Back in the UK, I had great fun running up HVSs, and tackling E1/2 on a good day. Most of the E3's I've met haven't liked me - but I did get the standard nemesis of Tippler Direct done; great route, but bloody hard! Yes the E4 onsight was Chalkstorm, and the E5 headpoint was Snivelling, but I don't claim to climb those grades anyway... Having great fun running up (with minimal gear) thousand meter 5.7/VS

Best Climbing Experience
DWS festival 2005. I've learnt DWS is the purest form of climbing and has no fear, hence completed the most amazing set of routes I've ever done in one day. Couldn't move the following one!

New Year's Day 2006 - DWS on the Devon south coast - Labyrinth. Wicked good fun, finishing through a pigeon-filled cave and blow-hole just wider than my shoulders...

9/08/06 - Harborough Rocks challenge. All 46 climbs, onsight solo, 1h53m. Any advances on that?

11/08/06 - Sod all of the above.
Great Slab, Froggatt.

2 moves and gallons of adrenaline.

November 2006 - Jumping between stalactites in Krabi, Thailand. You spot a wall from the boat, jump onto the lowest hanging point, campuss a bit, then simply go exploring across the wall and up hanging gallerys.

16/12/06 - Kachoong at Mt. Arapiles. The first move onto the wall instantly makes you feel like you're 100m off the ground, and then you have to launch out under the roof on the biggest flake you'll ever hang off.

24/12/06 - Stainless Steel, Willyabrup, nr Margret River, Western Australia. Just about the best face climb ever. Gets slowly harder and harder, climbing smaller and smaller flakes, until you're doing wonderfully technical moves that just feel like they're guiding you up the rock. And there's even a capping roof!
