Anyone know if the cobbler car park takes cards or do you need £9 in coins?

Dunno, but round the back is quicker and free, (though usually a bit damper...)

Wow 50p all day there last year. £9, that's even more than the NT car park in langdale!

You can also pay by phone, when I was there a couple of weeks ago the machine & phone number wouldn't work before 9am when the charges applied so people looking for an early start were out of luck. A few cars had penalty notices at 2pm.

It's what happens when we are totally useless about standing up for ourselves, we get taken for a ride. And those ridden most of all are the locals, 10, 20, 30 minutes away who no longer go there for a quick wander as it charges (same for all the forestry commission carparks too.) I don't mind one offs against tourists, but for a local leisure carpark it's appalling.

(They tried this with Aussie surf spots once and the locals filled the machines with epoxy resin until they gave up. Just a suggestion for others like me who think this is moronic and the act of idle local councillors.)

This. Definitely quicker if going for the North Peak routes.
