In reply to JR:

Nice one James! E10 and still doing A levels (?) whats the world coming too?
In reply to JR:
i thought the route went straight up the arete?? if im right, then so surly its not a true ascent as hes got a piece of gear on the face to the left of the arete - am i right?

but still, bloody good effort! im his age and cant do the first few moves!!
 Tyler 08 Mar 2005
In reply to OopzISlippedAgain:

Sort of, the route does go straight up the arete but those runners were used on both previous ascents and are "in" for the E10 tick, without them I guess the grade would be a lot higher.
 Fiend 08 Mar 2005
In reply to OopzISlippedAgain:

Side runners, youth.

In reply to OopzISlippedAgain:

I think they are on an E4, it gets a lot harder up above!
 EricpAndrew 08 Mar 2005
In reply to Tyler: climb to ledge, traverse to gear, place, return to ledge, rest, climb desperate arete, shout yeah, get drunk, earn mucho respect

thats how an assent goes
 Tom Briggs 08 Mar 2005
In reply to JR:

Fine effort. The photos show just how likely you are to deck it from the last hard moves.

In reply to JR: Fair dos to the lad, but why isn't he wearing a helmit?
 EricpAndrew 08 Mar 2005
In reply to Jon Dittman: cos if he falls he isnt going to hit his head!

In reply to OopzISlippedAgain:

its not a siderunner, its a runner. you're not going to climb straight up and E10 arete and deliberatley avoid using the good gear 3 foot to one side. It would be contrived to ignore it!

shindigger 08 Mar 2005
In reply to JR: side runner? are you some sort of f*cking dickwad or something? ofcourse it's not a siderunner... jeez man. You are a loser!
 Dominion 08 Mar 2005
In reply to shindigger:

Mind you some losers can't even reply to the correct post...
 Dave C 08 Mar 2005
In reply to Dominion: Damn, there's always a faster pedant around!
 Dominion 08 Mar 2005
In reply to Dave C:

Yep.

Personally I think shindigger ought to apologise for calling JR a "f*cking dickwad"

Oh, and a "well done" to James Pearson, since I'm here.

Dear shindigger

JR is something. That something is being mistaken for someone else.

In reply to JR: An excellent effort by a really great young climber.

I spent a day in the Costa Blanca climbing with him in January and he was a thoroughly pleasant and completely chilled out climbing companion.

Well done that man!
 Simon Caldwell 09 Mar 2005
In reply to Anonymous:
It's not a siderunner, it's part of the route. If and when somebody climbs the arete without using that runner then it will be a different (more serious) route. Probably.

Love it when somebody makes a big ascent, everyone who knows them proper sucks them off

Oh yeah!?! Well where were my plaudits following an epic ascent of Carrot Ridge, Connemara (multi-pitch Diff) last August?

It took me all day, I got gripped on every pitch and I barely escaped with my life on the bog-trot back to the car.

Arriving back at the campsite in Clifden, at around 1:30am, I yelled "We knocked the bugger off!" with pure unadulterated joy. All I got in return was a chorus of "Shut the f@ck up, you tosser!" and a few well-aimed tins of beans from the surrounding tents.

So you didn't take consolation in the free food?
 George Fisher 09 Mar 2005
In reply to James and Darren Jackson:

You two have the same surname.

That's funny.
Clauso 09 Mar 2005
In reply to Gfunk:

Funny? Far from it, it's an entirely normal state of affairs with most married couples.

Loser.
Bolton71 09 Mar 2005
In reply to Clauso: Does that mean your maried them?
Clauso 09 Mar 2005
In reply to Clumper:

It's an open marriage. It's me, James, Janet, Joe, Jesse and Michael... And Bubbles.
Bolton71 09 Mar 2005
In reply to Clauso: And Colin?
 George Fisher 09 Mar 2005
In reply to Clauso:

You could have chosen to both keep your surnames.

Introducing, Mr and Mr Darren Jackson-Jackson

Or indeed, Mr and Mr James Jackson-Jackson. Wasn't there a poem about him once.

Something about being back in time for tea.

In reply to Richard Bradley:

ok
James Jackson 09 Mar 2005
In reply to Clauso:

That was the last straw. I get home expecting a nice big, hot bath and the loving company of my favourite owlman. What do I get? I note pinned on the door 'Gone to find barnowl costume'. Not even a 'Love Darren'. I'm upset.

I dunno but B-list actors Keith David and David Keith were both born on the exact same day! and their careers have been similarly unspectacular, punctuated by brief shots at the big time (e.g. The THing)

well done that James Pearson btw
