Glencoe, midges.

Thinking of heading to Glencoe at the weekend, forecast is dry for a few days and light winds. Are midges likely to be an issue on Aonach Dubh?

We went up that way a couple years ago, fully tooled up for the midge war. Head nets, repellant, all the kit.

The horseflies ate us.

Forgot to add that a tick bit onto my pack while we were climbing. Must've thought the sweaty back padding was a good meal.

Given that it's going to get colder I doubt it.

A bottle of repellent doesn't weigh much though.

I live in Ballachulish and the nasty wave of midges is definitely over. They're still around but with some Smidge for both and a headnet for the belayer you'll be fine...  Climb fast!
