/ Looking for old / used climbing rope!?
Looking for old / used climbing rope?
I run local rope / matt making workshops and am looking to source some rope for an upcoming workshop.
If anybody knows where I can source some rope that be sweet.
Where are you based?
I'm based near Bracknell
Thanks, I figured the location might be handy as rope is a bit cumbersome/costly to post.
How about getting in touch with your nearest climbing wall? They'll be going through ropes at rate of knots
Taxi for 1? Yes thanks.
I have an old 30m rope you can have but it is grubby so not sure how appealing it would look as a mat. Maybe you wash them, I don't know? Also it may be useful for others to know what length you need for your average mat, I imagine you would prefer a continuous length for a mat.

Looking for any length rope between 10 - 60m.
Any condition is fine as will be cleaning them etc.
Visit your local wall. They likely won't want to say in print (eg HERE!) that you can have old ropes cos everyone panics about getting sued, but a friendly chat or a £5 in their charity tin may work wonders. May also deprnd on how busy they are and which staff member you get...and if they know you as a regular.
Take photos of the stuff you make. Good luck.
So how do you make a mat out an old rope? Sounds like good idea. Do you weave it together?
When is the workshop ?
I live in Reading and you are welcome to my old rope (I think I have 2) - pm me if interested amd we can arrange a pick-up.
Mat Wright has climbed Serendipity (Font 8B+) at Impossible Roof near Roche Abbey. The problem was first climbed by Dan Varian as a sit start to Mike Adam's Serenity (8B). Mat climbed the stand back in February, which was his first 8B.
