Anyone watched this on an Oculus?

https://www.oculus.com/experiences/media/471583807781814/

It is an absolutely astonishing experience; a 360 degree experience of soloing 1000ft up a cliff face in the Dolomites with Alex.

It's amped-up my climbing armchair critic game. I've now an opinion on bigwall soloing from the safety of my headset.

I honestly was blown away by it, having never done any big wall climbing.
Also gave me a much better idea of how hard the climbing he does is, which is more difficult to tell from a simple movie like Free Solo.
And some of the timelapse views are breathtaking!

If you have or know anyone with an Oculus VR headset, it's totally worth it, and for free!

Absolutely. To be so high up on a big wall, floating next to him - it's incredibly visceral. The Oculus is a game-changer for climbing films.

For those of us without an Oculus, the "making of" videos are worth watching on red bull TV.

I have an Oculus, ahem, my son has an Oculus.... It's the modern equivalent of dad building a train set for his son. The climbing game on there is good, very atmospheric.

How much is the Honnold thing?

In reply to Shani:

Do you mean 1000m? 1000ft would be a pretty small crag by dolomite standards.

It's very compelling irl for me, I'd rather not get into a vr rig and surrender control!

I'm calling it now; in less than 12 months you're going to be able to put on a VR headset and experience this stuff live.

It's free. I stumbled across it last night just looking for climbing stuff.

What's the climbing game, and how much is it?

In reply to aln:

Yep, it's free. The wingsuiting is also worth viewing.

I think it's called The Climb.
