Cornakey Cliff Rockfall Information

Above is a link to an image showing the current state of Cornakey Cliff. A huge section of Jolly Roger is missing in action and Heaven and Hell is threatened by a very large area of blocks which are completely unsupported. These are car sized or larger! These routes should be avoided unless you are attempting to sail your way quickly towards either the heavens or downstairs (depending on how good you've been). Lunch beneath these areas has the potential to be very exciting. The climbing on Wrecker's and the other routes at the crag is unaffected. The polypropylene rope at the base of the descent is past its best and could do with replacing soon.

As another bump to this and for general awareness, there was a large amount of loose rock in and around The Trench at Hartland Quay yesterday. It will have come down some time in the last 2 weeks, perhaps the same time as the rockfall at Cornakey. This area sees a lot more traffic than Cornakey (by both climbers and 'normal' people) so it's an important reminder to keep your wits about you in general on the culm!
