Please use this thread to post moderating requests, problem crags and suggestions. If you do post about a crag then please use the Logbooks 'Insert crag link...' box above the reply box so that a link is included which makes things lot easier to sort than if just a crag name is written.
Existing Moderators
If you moderate a crag but find yourself ignoring the update emails, or you have lost interest, or you have moved away then please could you remove yourself as moderator using the button at the base of the crag moderation page. Then reply to this thread with 'Crag Available' and the crag link inserted so that someone else can volunteer.
New Moderators
If you would like to moderate a crag, and feel you could do a better job than the current moderator, then reply to this thread with 'Crag Requested', the crag name and link so that we can arrange a switch if appropriate. We can now add second moderators to crags as well.
Thanks for everyone's help with UKC Logbook moderating. We are aware that this is sometimes a tiresome task and all your efforts are appreciated.
The previous UKC Moderator threads have got too big and has now been locked. Here they are for reference

Sorry this is a bit outside of my expertise, maybe worth dropping the UKC bods an email.
thanks anyway.
I have had a test with that crag and I'm able to set it as top rope, and set the grades all okay

The following two routes need merging. Seemed quite a good route to me, not sure why it doesn't get any stars in rockfax, is 2 in YMC which seems fair and matches the votes. 3 stars as per the other logbook entry is probably a bit much but then again if compared to Noonday Ridge I thought it was better.

Not sure if this is the best place for this but could Artificial crags have a different colour on the logbook maps and/or a logbook option to hide them on the maps/searches as there seems to be an increasing number of urban building crags some of which are pretty pointless which show up when using the find a crag functions
There are plenty of examples if you look at the maps, but this is one of the worst that came up recently
No match for crag id:27676
So if crag is classified as artificial it shouldn't appear when searching for trad or bouldering under discipline for example. But should be searchable under a new category called Artificial.
I have the same issue with Malibu Creek, tried both Edge and Chrome. When I select TR the Grade drop down menu doesn't have any options available.

I've merged those two together. I deleted the one that wasn't in rockfax and transferred the tricks over, dont think I can update the stars on the rockfax one unfortunately.

Yeah no worries, I’ve messaged them both. I was removed recently as moderator for this crag after spending the last few years tidying it up. No one messaged me to ask to swap - was there a reason I was removed?
Thanks, Duncan

Hi Remus, I tried to email this with the contact form but kept getting a server error so apologies if you've already received the message!
Badger Rock is both it's own crag: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/badger_rock-3825/ and a buttress on Kentmere Boulders: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/kentmere_boulders-1784/ . Some Badger Rock problems are on one crag OR the other and some are on both (it's a bit of a mess).
Can you moving the Badger Rock buttress at Kentmere to a seperate buttress on Badger Rock? I raised doing this with Paul a couple of years ago and he suggested doing it this way as there is a BMC RAD entry for Badger Rock, but I never followed up on it at the time.
If you add me as a second mod for badger rock I will merge the obvious duplicates I can find.

One for the UKC bods I think. Im not sure how crags are selected to go on to the winter conditions page, there's not an obvious flag at the crag level that I can see. Might just be whether there's mixed/dry tooling routes at the crag, in which case I guess it'd need some code changes?

I think the grades of the routes need changed from M to D.
Got to the bottom of this. Somehow `top-rope` snuck into the grade drop down. the way to signify it is a top rope route is to select that symbol slightly lower down on the page.
Sorry for the confusion
> I think the grades of the routes need changed from M to D.
Good knowledge, I've changed all the routes over to D grades, hopefully that'll do the trick.

Darwen Hill is a hill, not a crag, can it be deleted?
Same with Parlick Pike
I think these are part of the UKH system where you can log summits e.g. https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/snowdon_yr_wyddfa-4025/#maps so it's not clear to me that they should be deleted. I would defer to one of the UKC mods though, as they'll be able to give a better answer around what should be included as a summit and how they fit in to the logbooks system.
Thank you!
There is a buttress called Masia on the Albarracín page: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/albarracin-8221/#masia. I can't find this area in either of the guidebooks and no info comes up on google so I think someone has added it accidentally.
There is a Masia Area buttress on this crag: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/can_boquet-21009/#masia_area. Can I suggest moving this buttress to the Can Boquet page? I think it's more likely to below there.
Cheers!
Good spot, seems weird that someone one have added it to Albarracin if it did belong in Can Boquet given the crags are miles apart though. Im tempted just to delete the affected lines from albarracin given they've only had a single log each.
I'll drop the chap who's logged them a quick email and see if they can shed any light on the situation.
Hi there

Graeme Hammond has removed himself to allow me to be added, so can I please be added?

No probs Rob, I've added you as a mod.
Shifting ticks / duplicate climbs.
Spdermonkey climbed "Sticky Slab" at Trevose this is a duplicate of Captain Barnacles (D). Looking at the logbook entries, Spidermonkey now appears as having climbed "Captain Barnacles", but this does not appear in his logbook, instead, "Sticky Slab" is still there clicking on which gives "error no such climb in the database". Similarly for some other routes.
One for the UKC bods really, but sounds like a caching issue. I'd try a hard refresh (ctrl+shift+r) and see if that fixes things.

Hiya,
Yes. A lot of clearing work needs to happen around the Aviary Walls area, currently most of those routes aren’t really climbable at the moment. There are also inconsistencies with some boulders that need resolving. I live underneath the crag and am writing it up for the next guidebook, so do a lot of work there and around all the other crags in the AONB.
I asked Chris to drop off as moderator so that I could take over. He has been doing a good job upto now on the UKC side, but doesn’t do much physical work at the crag (hence it seems updated).
Thank you for adding me.
Kind regards,
Col.
Ace, great work Col, thanks for cleaning up the crag (the actual crag and the UKC data).

Could I be added as second mod for Craig Ddaear (Crag of the Earth)?
I must be missing something or having a bad day but I can't see how I get to the 'Moderators Page' of a crag I moderate and wish to update. Where's the button gone?!
Just above "Climbs at this crag", but on the right side of the screen.
I lost it once too...!
Thanks, that was where I remembered it being but there's nothing there. It's just "View Partners' Ascents" and "Display Options".
Those buttons are below "Climbs at this crag" (at least on my display), whereas the "Climbs moderation page" button is above that title.
I assume you are logged in, and you are still moderator for that crag? You should be able to check by scrolling to the end of the list of routes on your crag, where the moderators are listed.
If your profile is still listed there, I'm afraid you're going to need a tech bod to sort you out!
Neil
I can see a 'Climbs moderation page' button on each of the 3 crags you're listed as moderator for...
... though I appreciate that doesn't help you!
Sorry yes, they're on the line below that, and pretty much align with the "You've Ticked x% (y of z climbs) of this crag."
I'm still moderator of those 3 crags and am listed as such, I'm just missing that 'Climbs Moderation Page' button. Very odd. I'm wondering if it might be linked to having been banned for a week a few months back and some setting, which was temporarily disabled as a consequence, hasn't been switched back.
Thanks for the suggestions though, but it looks like it's one for the tech team.
Aah, I've just noticed that if I click the 'Update this Crag' button on the RHS below the main approach notes box, I get the missing "Climbs Moderation page" so can get to it that way!
Please could No match for climb id:693617 and Géraniums (6a+) be merged?
Also, I can no longer see the link to the moderation page from the main crag page, which is odd.
Any preference on which one is the correct one?

I emailed a few months ago offering to moderate for a number of crags I frequent thag I felt needed tidying up and never received an email back. I also highlighted how I think Coniston bouldering as a crag seems messy given it covers 6 crags some of which are quite big and fairly far from each other. I offered to help implement splitting these out if needed and moderate them all I believe but never heard anything back. Has this been lost in transit?
Sector 1 is banned and the bolts there have been chopped.
https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/chamandrin-2736/#overview
Sorry about that Dan, I've had a search through my inbox and can't find your email. Generally better to put stuff in this thread rather than emailing me.
Thanks for the update, I've added an access note and marked the routes in sector 1 as unclimbable.
Hello,
A bit random maybe but it's always frustrated me that 6 crags are listed under Coniston bouldering as one crag (Nettle crag, Dow crag, Coppermines, Virtual Crag, Lad Stones, Cove Stones) and I wondered how difficult it might be to split them into their separate crags?
I'd be happy to help moderate each of the seperate crags if needed or if support in the transition was needed. It just seems a disservice to the quality of these crags to have them all lumped together when many of them would involve driving followed by a large walk between and they really feel like separate crags in my opinion.
Also I'm regular in attending the Bowderstone & Kentmere boulders if either need an additional moderator (Kentmere has no second mod)
Please be in touch regardless of what you intend or don't intend to do, and if there's anything I can do to support please let me know
Dan
Above what I emailed, I took it from the contact form email that came back to me from Ukc so I assumed it had been delivered... Have also messaged you on the other site as I was getting a network error here.
The Les Bans crag would be most appropriate of the three. There are some routes listed at all three crags. If you consolidate them and make me a moderator I will tidy up the crag.
Hi, could I be added as a moderator for Craig Yr Wrysgan please?
Can the following route Let's Dance (E1 5a) as described in the Northern Wired guide be accepted in the database, which previously I added it with a full description but it has since been deleted so have added it again, but without description. Given this is in a guide i think it should be accepted, its far better than some of the pointless linkups that have been added as "new routes" on some gritstone edges.

Sounds sensible, I've marked it as accepted. Whereabouts on the crag should it live? I'll shift it to the correct spot.
I'd put it before Major Tom (E2 5c)
Thanks, I have tidied things up.
Mega, thanks Martin.
Curiously, there is -AFAIK- only 1 4star route in the UKC DB, Hung Over (6a+)
How did this happen?
Looks like it's a carry over from the rockfax db, though that just shifts the question to why it's 4* in rockfax! It also seems to be incorrectly marked as a DWS in rockfax.

The Top 50 routes got 4 stars but these should actually still only show 3 on UKC... Ooops!
I've corrected the DWS tag, it should be synced to UKC soon.
I've finally got around to splitting up Albarracin into separate crags. Hopefully a bit easier to work with now.
Cheers. Probably a good idea as it was pretty unwieldy! One thing, I think some of the sectors are almost offshoots/continuations of others so might be worth merging a few of the smaller areas back together. I'll try and have a look at the guidebook and figure out the most logical splits soon and let you know.
I've already merged some together into to the guidebook areas. I based them off this list:

Hello!
I'd like to add some routes and correct the order of these crags:
I tried contacting the current moderator (same for both) but didn't get a response, I could just be a temporary second.
Also a pet peeve of mine is that Höllental should be spelt Höllental but there is another Höllental elsewhere - not sure if that would be problematic to correct? I would be happy to organise Höllental better as well, but there are a few hundred routes that belong under this name (which would mean merging other crags into it as buttresses e.g. Mittagstein, Fuchslochgraben, Weisse Wand, and more), or the existing crag would need to be divided into various crags (including then deleting duplicate routes). I am never sure what is preferred in such cases!
Thanks!

Hi Remus,
Could you please add me as a second moderator for Silvretta:
Seems like theres a lot of unaccepted climbs and some grades need changing ☺️
Hi Joe, I've added you to those crags.
Arnsteinwand, Rastenfeld and Höllental
I've done the rename too. The system checks for duplicate names periodically and appends the area name when it's used in the searches so it'll eventually appear as Höllental - Lower Austria.
Whether we merge or keep as separate crags usually depends on how big they are. If you find climbs at Höllental that should be elsewhere, can you put them under a new buttress (like Move to Mittagstein or something) and let me know and I'll move them over to the right crag.
I've added you Sara.

Thanks Paul, will post once I've made some updates!
Hi again,
Just found a typo in the name of this crag Brückenfels, it should be Brückenfels. Thank you!
Thanks, updated.

Could I be added as a second moderator for: Creag nan Clag
Could you combine these two routes (as they are the same) The Gift Link (8a+) and No match for climb id:158709 Keeping the name as "The Gift Link" and the grade at 8a+ ?
Thanks.

Hopefully now sorted as you wanted Callum.
Thanks Neil, that's excellent. Could I be added as a second moderator? I'd like to tidy up the recently added routes.

I've swapped you out for Alan.

Hang on a minute. I replied to you straight away(unless it didn't send)telling you that a moderator can't change grades of app and in print published routes marked with an "R".
I agree Buster probably is 8b but only Alan/RF can change that.
I downgraded Hardrobe for you because it's a new route and not published and voting and comments overwhelming supported a regrade.
Could also be something benign like an email going to spam?

Thanks.
Is it possible to adjust a topo after it's been approved
No probs, added you as second mod on both of those.
Hmm, not sure on that one, sorry!
Hi. I volunteered to moderate this crag and then found it was 20 miles away from the right place and there are already two other competing entries!
Could you just delete this one please?

There are updates, confirmations and corrections needed at Creag Dubh (Scotland) for a few years now. I've been in touch with both moderator a few times, and never got a reply nor any action taken to update the log.
Time to clean house, I'd say.
Request mod for the following:
https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/creag_dubh_newtonmore-37/
I've added you.
This is all sorted Remus.
It looks like these all need a 2nd mod/are accumulating unmoderated boulders:
Cuvier Est (Bivouac)
Rocher du Cassepot
Rocher De Milly
Rocher des Souris
I'm happy to be the 2nd mod if needed.
Apremont looks like it needs splitting into the separate crags much like consiton boulder I mentioned before as its a mess to be honest and annoying as an end user to navigate. If I can assist with either let me know.
don't think there is any point contacting the mod as they can't change RF names/grades but the following climbs need their names/grades assigning correctly. There is also an issue with which name is displayed for the RF assigned route in the app vs on ukc.
The Raven Direct (E2 6b) - this seems to be the non RF linked route so should probably be call the direct and graded E2 6b
The Raven (HVS 5b) - this seems to be the RF linked route which is call The Raven on both the app and book version and graded HVS 5b (5c seemed more likely)
No match for crag id:12058 should be deleted and its climbs put in the Grochan Riverside section of Cwm Glas Bach Boulders.

I've added you as a second mod for those crags. I haven't done anything with apremont as I suspect that'll be a pretty substantial job!

I've tweaked the names and grades on those per your suggestion. Might be a little confusing for the 3 people who previously logged the non-RF one which is now called "The Raven DIrect" and has been upgraded to E2 but hopefully they'll be able to work it out.
> No match for crag id:12058 should be deleted and its climbs put in the Grochan Riverside section of Cwm Glas Bach Boulders.
Sorted.
Coed Dinas-ddu should be renamed Coed Dinas-ddu (as it encompasses more than just those two boulders).
> Coed Dinas-ddu should be renamed Coed Dinas-ddu (as it encompasses more than just those two boulders).
Sorted. Added a little note to the crag description so hopefully it'll still show up in gogole search if people look for the old name.
Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I have requested some details to be updated for Polly's Peril (S 4a) at Westcombe Beach and have not heard anything back. I also messaged the mod via ukc message but no luck. What would the best course of action be? I would happily help moderate the crag if that is useful?
I've made you a second mod on that crag so you can update the details yourself.
Perfect. Thanks, Remus!
Tonfedd has two moderators but there's a heap of stuff there that hasn't been confirmed and sorted in years. Happy to do a job on it.
Can someone please add @nickcanute (https://www.ukclimbing.com/user/profile.php?id=102078) as secondary moderator for Moss Rake (https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/moss_rake-26584/#overview). I have somehow ended up as primary and secondary moderator which seems a bit overkill!
Thanks for the offer Andy. Usually I try and avoid swapping out mods without explicitly asking them as it's caused confusion in the past, but it obviously hasn't had a lot of attention so I've tagged you in.

Thanks!
You might want to sort out Ranochan for Ali and James, it’s a bit of a mess.

Ok, I'll tidy it up then Ali and James can have it back.
Thanks
I've deleted Ranochan West and moved the routes that were listed there to Ranochan Wall. I've added you as second mod on Ranochan Wall.
I've made some changes, you might want to put James back as moderator.
Thanks, looking good! I've made James a mod again.
Can you make me 2nd mod for Rivelin Edge would be good to update the climbing in the formally banned sector with descriptions
Not really a moderation issue, but can a new UIAA grade of 9+/10- be added to the dropdown list? All recent/new 8as in the Frankenjura are given this grade with 9+ being reserved for 7c+ and 10- for 8a+. A bit like V8+.
No probs, added you as second mod.

One for the UKC bods so I've passed it on to Paul.
> No probs, added you as second mod.
thanks,
who accepts topo you submit? I added one to Dimmings Dale yesterday and just added one for one of the former banned buttress at Rivelin and assumed as a crag moderator it would something I would accept but either this function no longer works or i don't have the power to do.
UKC big dawgs I assume, I haven't seen a queue for accepting new topos anywhere before. I could have just missed it though.
Thanks for highlighting this, that's sorted Rupert.
I've approved those Graeme. We need to work on the moderation for them as it's currently just UKC staff. It will be quicker to get them approved in the future.
Looks like you're all sorted Dave?
Looks like was missed out when the big crag merger was done at Val di Mello. Should be added along with the rest.
Thanks, I've moved the routes across to Val di Mello, can you put them in the right spot? Thanks
Could you kindly remove Arete Ryan from;
https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/aiguille_du_plan-3019/arete_ryanea...
and merge ascents and ticklists into;
https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/aiguille_du_plan-3019/arete_ryanea...
However best not to merge the two Aiguille du Plan crags, as other routes on the former crag start on the (north) Plan side of the ridge, whereas Arete Ryan starts on the (south) Envers side, so is best merged into the latter Envers crag. Hope that makes sense. Cheers.
I moderate a couple of large crags where there are seasonal access restrictions only on certain sectors. What I've done so far is with these is to mention them in Access Advice for the crag as a whole, then mention them again in the sector descriptions.
Is this ok? Would it make sense to have Access Advice at sector level?
> I moderate a couple of large crags where there are seasonal access restrictions only on certain sectors. What I've done so far is with these is to mention them in Access Advice for the crag as a whole, then mention them again in the sector descriptions.
> Is this ok? Would it make sense to have Access Advice at sector level?
I think your approach works. It would be useful to see the crag as a whole, but depending on the size of the crag the other option would be to split it up in to smaller crags so access details for each are more clearly defined. There's pros and cons to this though: for example, if the crags all share the same approach then you'd have to copy and paste the same info across the separate crags.
Can I be added as mod for Saddle Tor please? https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/saddle_tor-1141/

Thanks,

Back in on the admin tools and made you a mod here. Funnily enough Jack is a mate of mine, he'll be a bit bitter you're suggesting he's not very active any more
The general consensus for the grade of Shapeshifter (VI 7) is that it is closer to VI/VII 7/8. Could the grade be changed in the route description? It is a good climb so would be a shame if the grade given were deterring people from enjoying it.
No probs, I've changed it to VII 7 as there isn't an option for split grades.
Hey Remus, please could I be added as a crag moderator to La Mojarra? Thanks and Merry Christmas 🎄

Geyikbayiri - Upper Tier https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/geyikbayiri_-_upper_tier-3451/
Out here in Geyikbayiri long term been here for a month and plan to be around for a lot of the year - lots of new sectors opened, new routes added to existing ones, some of them are in the brand new guide, some not but all really good quality. Started adding them to the database but none have been approved yet, sent an email to both moderators last week but no reply. Happy to get everything up to date and tidied up if I can get added as a moderator for this area.
I've added you. I hope you're having an amazing time there. It's one of the few Sport Climbing venues I'd love to go back to.
Thanks for adding me as a moderator for Trebanog. I've been going through and tidying a few things up that haven't been updated in the last few years and following some new routes being bolted at the crag in the last couple of months.
There's a few changes though that I can't/unsure of how to make. Happy to put this in an email if that's the preferred route;
- Can the logs from No match for climb id:72669 be merged into this one Simon's Crack (S) I think at some point the first route has been created as a duplicate of the second.
- Unnamed #2 (VS 4c) This route should be named "Unnamed #2"
- Ethanol (6c) Isn't Blagdon, it should be named "Ethanol" as per the route it's a retrobolted version of. As such Ethanol Direct Finish (6c+) should be named "Ethanol Direct Finish". I haven't made these changes since the routes are in the rockfax database
- Blagdon (VS 4c) should actually be called "Blagdon". P Hamer and R Smith were the first ascensionist's
The other routes not yet confirmed at the crag, I need to go back up and climb, I climbed a few of the newer routes on Saturday but not all.
Thanks for sorting the crag out, good work. I've gone through and made those changes for you.
Thanks for making those changes, just spotted one more that's required.
Now the names have been corrected the Rockfax route description for Ethanol Direct Finish (6c+) needs to updated with "Blagdon" corrected to "Ethanol".
Can you add me as mod for Shielhill Cave and correct the name to “Shielhill Cave”. I made an i before e error when I inputted the crag name, sorry.
> Can you add me as mod for Shielhill Cave and correct the name to “Shielhill Cave”. I made an i before e error when I inputted the crag name, sorry.
Looks like this is sorted?
You'll need to contact Rockfax to get that description updated. There's a little button you can press on the climb edit page that lets you report a discrepancy directly.
Thanks. Yeah, I figured you may not be able to fix the spelling. After I posted I found the UKC contact page and it is all sorted now.
Someone's added some problems to Cabrerizo: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/cabrerizo-31088/
which should be at Mezquita: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/mezquita-31100/
(easily done, I think some old guidebooks have them together or at least split differently). I've created a buttress at Cabrerizo to move over, could you transfer it across please?
Thanks!
Good spot, I've just moved those over to Mezquita for you.
Thanks Remus!
Hi. I've added myself as a second mod to Cairn Gorm - Creagan Cha-no and tidied it up some.
But could you please rename the crag to "Creagan Cha-no" instead? That's how all climbers know it and how it is in the guidebooks. (Sron a Cha-no is the name of the big spur feature that the crag is on the side of.)
Thanks.
Thanks for your work on the crag.
Changed the name for you, but just realised I'm not quite sure whether you still wanted the 'Carin Gorm' in there? Let me know if not and I'll change it to just 'Creagan Cha-no'.
Thanks remus. No mate, that’s great. (I did actually mean minus the ‘Cairn gorm’ bit when I asked but just had a look and there’s the Cairn gorm prefix for the northern corrie crags so it’s consistent to leave it as you’ve done it. Cheers!)
While the Cairn Gorm prefix on the northern corries is arguably OK as they are referred to as 'the northern corries of Cairn Gorm' (though Cha-no isn't), if you have the facility to do so then it would make sense to remove the Broad Cairn prefix from Creag an Dubh-loch.
No one has ever referred to that crag as Broad Cairn. It's exactly like having Cloggy titled Snowdon - Clogwyn Du'r Arddu. Most crags don't have the hill that they're on included in the name unless that's also the name by which the crag is known, so why these?
Good shout Andy, I've removed 'Broad Cairn' from the crag name.
I suspect it was in there because there was a summit called 'Broad Cairn' that was lumped in there alongside the routes, I've moved that over to the actual summit and merged those ticks in to the existing logbook entry for Broad Cairn summit https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/broad_cairn-14079/
Hi Remus,
On this entry https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/beinn_alligin_-_sgurr_mor-13023/be...
...in the route name I presume it must be an autocorrect typo as Beinn Alligin has become "Being Alligin", unless it's some very subtle joke going over my head! The joke thing seems unlikely for such a classic winter ridge traverse! Cheers.
